3rd Kloster Seeon Meeting on Secretases

Scientific aim of the meeting

Alzheimer’s disease-related secretases - especially the beta-secretase BACE1, but also the alpha-, gamma-, delta- and eta-secretases - are potential or active drug targets for Alzheimer's disease. However, several clinical trials have failed due to mechanism-based side effects. In fact, many of the secretases have various substrates and thus diverse physiological functions, which are currently only partially understood. The aim of the conference next year is to discuss the current state and exciting new developments regarding the function and the therapeutic potential of the secretases. Because BACE1 is a key drug target for Alzheimer’s disease, including for your company, one session will be devoted to the clinical development of BACE inhibitors. All major pharma companies active in this field will attend. The preliminary program is found here.
