Federal University of Pernambuco

Founded in 1946 and initially called University of Recife, UFPE originally consisted of Law, Engineering, Medicine, Odontology, Pharmaceutic, Fine Arts and Philosophy schools. After 19 years a new education system was integrated, creating new educational offers and denominating the university as Federal University of Pernambuco. Education is offered in 3 campuses: Recife, Vitoria and Santo Antao. It includes 12 Academic Centres, 95 undergraduate courses, 65 academic master’s programs, and 45 doctorate programs. More than 28,000 students are currently in the undergraduate courses, 2,750 students in the academic master’s programs and 1,600 students in doctoral programs.
