International Rice Research Institute

The International Rice Research Institute (IRRI) was established in 1960 as a nonprofit training and research center in Metro Manila, Philippines. More than 1,300 staff members work from 16 country offices in order to develop new varieties of rice and promote crop management techniques. IRRI focuses on the wellbeing of rice farmers, the environment, and rice consumers within developing countries.
