In 1982 the American Psychological Association (APA) was established in
Washington, D.C. and is now the largest professional and scientific
association of psychologists in Canada and the U.S. Approximately 137,000
members are active in APA efforts concerning the development and
education of psychology, as well as the training of educators, scientists and
practitioners.Â
