Founded in 1948, its mission is to contribute to the sustainable development of Colombia, through the education of professionals who analyze and understand the economic environment from a global perspective, the economics sciences from a research approach and the application of the economic knowledge. The faculty plan to be between the 5 first leading universities in Latin America in terms of economics education and research. The academic community counts with high education professionals: 80% with PhD and 20% with a master degree. Additionally the research orientation of the faculty promoted the creation of the Center of Studies on Economic Development CEDE and the International Agency for the Development AID. Since 1997, the summer school encourages the international exchange of knowledge between countries and enriches the level of education with international professors from recognized universities around the world.
