The European Molecular Biology Organization (EMBO) was established in 1964 as
an organization for life scientists. More than 1,600 member are active in the
EMBO, 76 of whom have been honored with the Nobel Prize in recent years.
Furthermore, EMBO is the founder of the Initiative for Science in
Europe.Â
