The German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA) was founded in 1964 as
a German research institution in Hamburg. GIGA is considered as a leading
think tank for political, academic, and economic communities in Africa, Latin
America, Asia, and the MENA region. GIGA Â is comprised of 4 regional
institutes and publishes several scientific papers and journals annually.Â
