The Institute for the Protection and Security of the Citizen (IPSC) is
located in Ispra, Italy, and is part of the European Commission's Joint
Research Center. The IPSC focuses on institutional and competitive
activities, in relation to the European Union, and produces other activities
such as the Exploratory Research Projects. However, the main research area of
IPSC is that of security and crisis management, with particular concern for
the fields of global and internal security, energy and transport, disasters
and response, and information society.Â
