In 1958 the National Chiao Tung University (NCTU) was established
in Hsinchu, Taiwan as a public national university. NCTU is one of the
most prestigious in the nation and is known for its academic programs
regarding business and management, computer science, applied chemistry, and
electrical engineering. More than 12,000 local and international students are
enrolled in NCTU's nine colleges.Â
