The Royal Military College of Canada (RMC) is committed to providing a safe, healthy and harassment-free environment for its students, staff and faculty. In particular, the College takes the prevention of and response to sexual misconduct and harassment with the utmost seriousness. The College has policies, programmes and procedures in place to prevent and respond to sexual misconduct and harassment.
Policy Statement by the Commandant
Sexual misconduct and harassment is not to be tolerated at the RMC. I expect all staff, faculty and students to act with Character, Courage and Compassion in responding to and eradicating all forms of sexual harassment and misconduct. Those who act inappropriately, perpetrators and bystanders, who chose not to act, will be held accountable for their actions. Those who report experiences of sexual misconduct or harassment at RMC, including sexual assault, will be treated with dignity, respect and compassion, and will receive the support they need. We all have a role to play in ensuring that our workplace remains safe, respectful and free of any form of sexual misconduct and harassment. I call upon all leaders, supervisors, mentors and educators to set the example by taking an active role in the prevention and eradication of sexual misconduct and harassment.

Examples of Past and On-Going Efforts
The College has put a significant amount of efforts in implementing preventive measures over the past year. The following list provides several examples of such recent initiatives.
- Issuance of the first Commandant's communiqué and guidance on Sexual Misconduct and Harassment in May 2014;

- Planning efforts by the College Health and Wellness Working Group (HWWG) toward the implementation of a Campaign Plan on Sexual Misconduct and Harassment Prevention and Response using the following lines of effort: Prevention, Investigation, Accountability, Victim Support and Assessment;
- Review and enhancement of prevention programmes with the help of the PAG;
- Institutionalization of periodic harassment, sexual misconduct and ethics briefings delivered by the College leadership and subject matter experts to various focus audiences;
- Continue to better integrate Sexual Misconduct and Harassment prevention across programmes;
- Review and refine policy, prevention and response plans.
