The micromagnetic Barkhausen Noise technique is used to determine and monitor mechanical properties of ferromagnetic components, for example in steel constructions like bridges or in roller bearing surfaces of wind turbines. New sensor types and improved evaluation algorithms developed at Fraunhofer IKTS ensure an easier and more reliable use in practice. This offers lots of applications in product manufacturing and revision field testing.
