It focuses on theoretical and applied problems of international economics and development, with emphasis on countries from Asia and Pacific. Member of the department are engaged in research, PhD student supervision and teaching. The key for the academic success is the intersection between high competence in relevant fields of applied economicss, deep regional knowledge and extensive on-the-ground experience.  The areas of interest of the department are: macroeconomics and finance, agriculture, industrialisation, economics of poverty, migration, international trade and capital flows.
