University of Calcutta

The University of Calcutta (CU) was established in 1857 as a public state academic institution in West Bengal, India. CU is reputed for being the first university in South Asia with multidisciplinary Western-style teaching and unique research approaches. Thousands of undergraduate and postgraduate students are enrolled in the eight faculties, and sixty-five departments, that CU offers. Studies regarding education, journalism, business management, social welfare, engineering, law, and science are considered to be the most prestigious at CU.
